Job description

Apple's Silicon Engineering Group is seeking dedicated CPU Implementation Engineers to contribute to the design and development of innovative microprocessor architectures. The role involves extensive collaboration with micro-architects to define and optimize memory subsystems while balancing performance, power, and area. Engineers will drive the RTL-to-GDS flow and work with multi-functional teams to validate physical designs. This position is ideal for those passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree in a relevant field.
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with scripting in Perl or TCL.
  • Familiarity with high performance microprocessor architecture.
  • Knowledge of logic design principles along with timing and power implications.
  • Understanding of low power microarchitecture and implementation techniques.
  • Design experience in deep sub-micron technologies and device physics.
  • Experience using synthesis and place-route tools.

Responsibilities

  • Work extensively with micro-architects to define memory subsystems and perform feasibility studies.
  • Make area, frequency, performance, and power trade-offs while designing and balancing pipeline stages.
  • Drive the RTL-to-GDS flow through synthesis and place-and-route targeting ambitious power, performance, and area goals.
  • Collaborate with a multi-functional engineering team to implement and validate physical designs focusing on timing, area, reliability, testability, and power.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
