JobsGPU Physical Design Engineer
Job description
This role is part of Apple's Silicon Technologies group, focusing on the design and manufacturing of high-performance, power-efficient GPUs. The position requires a blend of strategic engineering and hands-on experience in physical design and large chip integration. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing complete chip design from RTL to tapeout, ensuring that Apple products can handle complex tasks efficiently. Collaboration with various teams and driving methodologies to streamline physical design work are key aspects of this role.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science is required.
- Experience or coursework in physical design, synthesis, DFT, or clocking is necessary.
- Experience or coursework with digital logic design, RTL, CMOS transistor logics, or VLSI concepts is required.
- Experience with scripting languages such as TCL, Python, Perl, or shell scripting is needed.
- A Master's degree is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the FE team to understand chip architecture and drive physical aspects early in the design cycle.
- Drive outstanding PD construction and optimization recipes for performance, power, and area (PPA).
- Collaborate to drive methodologies and best known methods to streamline PD work.
- Lead and resolve design and flow issues related to physical design, identifying potential solutions and driving execution.
- Drive the work among place and route engineers, setting goals and planning work.
