Job description

The Software Engineering Manager II for Google Distributed Cloud is responsible for leading a team of engineers and managing large-scale projects across multiple sites. This role requires both technical expertise and leadership skills to guide engineers in optimizing their code and achieving project goals. The manager will contribute to product strategy while ensuring the team operates efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The position involves working with cutting-edge technology to help customers manage their private cloud infrastructure effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as Java, C/C++, Python, or Go.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Design, guide, and vet systems designs within the broader area and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
  • Design and develop software systems and tooling to enable customers in an air-gapped environment to manage their private cloud infrastructure efficiently.
  • Lead a team and execute multiple projects including refining requirements, technical design, task breakdown, deployment, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Work with partner teams to accelerate development and delivery of the platform.
