In this role, you will be part of an innovative CPU design team at Apple, focusing on enhancing the physical design methodology and optimization processes. Your work will primarily aim to improve Power, Performance, and Area (PPA) of CPU designs. You will collaborate with various teams, including CPU, CAD, and SOC teams, to develop new flows and algorithms. Additionally, you will explore the application of machine learning techniques in silicon design.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience in digital circuits, timing/power concepts, and logic design
- Experience with TCL or Perl
- Strong fundamentals in high-performance and low-power physical design techniques
- Experience in using industry-standard synthesis, PnR, and STA tools
- Proficiency in programming and scripting in Python, TCL, or Perl
- Understanding of challenges related to the latest deep sub-micron technology
Responsibilities
- Work with CPU, CAD, and design teams to engineer new flows and algorithms to improve PPA
- Conduct detailed analysis across partitions to identify optimization opportunities
- Develop new PD focused flows to enhance CPU performance and efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with STA, library, tech, and post-silicon teams to improve optimization during physical design
- Lead physical design methodology and optimization techniques across partitions in collaboration with cross-functional teams
