Job description

The Senior Engineering Program Manager at Apple will lead a large cross-functional project focused on enhancing the search infrastructure and delivering innovative search products. This role involves collaborating with top-tier deep learning and AI engineers to apply groundbreaking technologies, including Large Language Models, to improve user experiences for over a billion customers. The program manager will drive consensus among diverse teams, manage project schedules, and ensure alignment across all partner teams. The position requires a strong focus on quality, user experience, and effective communication.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in driving large scale program building machine learning powered products
  • 3+ years experience bringing a product from concept to completion, ideally working on machine-learning features and/or sophisticated backend and front-end systems
  • Deep understanding of software development for machine-learned products and services
  • Strong desire to learn and aptitude for problem solving
  • Excellent program management skills including program structuring and managing multiple work streams interdependently
  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or related field and equivalent experience
  • 8+ years experience in delivering search and generative answer quality improvements is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Drive consensus across multiple groups with varying opinions and needs
  • Create and manage project schedules with clear dependencies and critical paths
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, close gaps and re-plan as needed
  • Provide clear, timely and objective communication, including regular program status updates
  • Lead measurements to help the team understand and measure success, including quality and usage scale
  • Advocate for user and company values when leading the team to convergence on key open questions
  • Lead early feedback collection from internal dogfooding during feature convergence
  • Reflect on how the team operates and propose new ways to enable more effective processes
