Job description
Apple's Silicon Engineering Group is seeking an experienced RTL Engineer to drive the architecture and RTL development of next-generation CPUs. This role involves working on high-performance, low-power microprocessors that power innovative Apple products. The engineer will engage in microarchitecture development, RTL feature ownership, and validation processes. Collaboration with multifunctional engineering teams is essential to ensure design delivery meets various performance and reliability goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 3+ years of industry experience
- Experience with microprocessor architecture
- Proficiency in Verilog or VHDL
- Knowledge of logic design principles
- Expertise in instruction fetch and decode, branch prediction, or cache and memory subsystems
- Understanding of timing, power, and area tradeoffs in CPU microarchitecture
- Experience using an interpretive language such as Perl or Python
- Familiarity with simulators and waveform debugging tools such as Verdi
Responsibilities
- Develop and specify microarchitecture from high-level exploration to detailed specification
- Own the development and refinement of new RTL features targeting power, performance, area, and timing goals
- Support test bench development and simulation for functional and performance verification
- Explore high-performance strategies and validate RTL design performance
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement and validate physical design aspects
