Job description

The CPU team at Apple is seeking a skilled CPU Power Engineer to focus on power budgeting, analysis, and identifying recovery opportunities in high-performance designs. This role involves working at the intersection of micro-architecture, RTL, physical design, and technology. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development of innovative products by analyzing power impacts and generating estimates throughout the project lifecycle. Passion for innovation and dedication to excellence are key attributes for success in this position.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Scripting experience in Perl, Python, and TCL
  • Academic or industry experience with CPU architecture and implementation
  • Broad knowledge related to micro-architecture and physical implementation
  • Knowledge of logic design principles along with timing and power implications for high performance and high frequency designs
  • CMOS circuit design and analysis skills
  • Experience with industry-standard power analysis tools like PrimePower and PowerArtist

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and estimate the power impact of implementing new micro-architectural features
  • Generate power rollups and projected estimates from initial to mature net lists through the lifecycle of a project
  • Analyze power contributions to generate opportunities for recovery in physical implementation as well as RTL
  • Create power projections factoring in expected cost of convergence and implementation and refine the process

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
