Job description

The role involves joining the ANE Compiler Pre-Silicon team, which focuses on enabling new hardware features in the simulation environment and initial chip bring up. The ideal candidate will work across ANE hardware and software architecture, aiming to optimize performance. Responsibilities include implementing functional features in the compiler stack and collaborating with various teams to ensure performance and power efficiency. The position requires a passion for hardware and software integration.

Requirements

  • Experience with compiler development and optimization techniques
  • Strong understanding of hardware and software architecture
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in performance analysis and debugging

Responsibilities

  • Implement new functional features in the compiler stack using the Apple Neural Engine simulation environment.
  • Drive performance content delivery to the hardware team and triage functional issues.
  • Collaborate with the hardware team to review hardware specifications.
  • Work closely with the design and micro-architecture team to understand functional and performance goals.
  • Participate in workload selection and preparation of the ANE functional and performance test plan.
  • Deep-dive into hardware investigations to understand and root-cause performance gaps.
  • Evaluate new hardware features and contribute to the definition of architectural changes for future ANEs.
  • Develop features for future products, from initial concept through development to hardware bringup and validation.
  • Partner with driver and firmware teams to integrate hardware acceleration in the software stack.
  • Collaborate with hardware design, verification, performance, and architecture teams within the Silicon Engineering Group.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
