Job description

The Product Systems Quality team is seeking a highly motivated Automation Engineer to lead the design and implementation of data collection and evaluation pipelines for Apple's machine learning systems. This role involves close collaboration with algorithm development teams to build tools for data analysis and visualization. The engineer will also develop and execute validation strategies to ensure model accuracy and reliability. This position offers the opportunity to drive innovation and automation in the product development cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on industry experience developing or validating ML/AI systems
  • Proficiency in Python with a strong background in test automation and test infrastructure design
  • Experience working with large datasets for testing products utilizing computer vision or machine learning
  • 5 or more years of ML industry experience, including time spent debugging or improving deployed models
  • Experience with analytical tools such as Jupyter, Pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib
  • Experience in training models using frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow
  • Data analysis, visualization, and reporting experience with tools such as Tableau or Splunk

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks and validation pipelines for machine learning models
  • Collaborate with algorithm development teams to build tools for analyzing and visualizing data
  • Evaluate and represent the true customer experience through experiments and engineering studies
  • Develop and execute validation strategies to ensure models meet accuracy and reliability requirements
  • Create visualizations for comparing model validation results across configurations
  • Take ownership of issues and drive them to resolution while continuously improving tests and processes
