Job description
The Principal Applied Research Engineer at Apple will integrate foundational AI research with advanced hardware and software to create transformative user experiences. This role focuses on driving innovation in self-improving systems and personalized autonomous multi-agent systems. The engineer will work on next-generation intelligent architectures that learn continuously and reason over persistent memory. This position offers the opportunity to influence high-level architecture decisions and advocate for novel research directions.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in LLM productization.
- Deep expertise in transformer-based LLMs and multi-modal foundation models, particularly in integrating text, vision, and audio.
- Hands-on mastery across the model lifecycle, including pre-training, fine-tuning, performance optimization, and safety alignment.
- Expertise in designing AI agents for complex reasoning under on-device compute constraints.
- Demonstrated ability to influence high-level architecture decisions and advocate for research directions.
Responsibilities
