Job description

Apple is seeking an experienced database Software Engineer to contribute to the development of the next generation of Apple's cloud services. This role involves working on a core component of the iCloud Platform, which is essential for delivering exceptional customer experiences. The FoundationDB team is looking for dedicated developers who can take on significant responsibility and influence the backend's direction. The focus will be on maximizing efficiency, reducing latency, and improving system availability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry experience in designing, implementing, and operating highly scalable distributed systems.
  • Working experience with programming languages such as C++.
  • Experience in performance benchmarking, debugging, and tuning distributed systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL or other modern data storage systems, including expertise in replication, consensus, and transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance the FoundationDB system to improve its performance and scalability.
  • Drive the full cycle of efficiency improvement for the product, including reducing latency and improving availability.
  • Manage technical and organizational complexity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Innovate new solutions to complex problems and maximize software reuse and simplicity.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the successful implementation of critical Apple services.
