Job description
Apple's Silicon Engineering Group is seeking dedicated engineers for the role of CPU Physical Design Engineer. This position focuses on driving RTL-to-GDS design convergence and ensuring block-level physical design delivery. The team emphasizes collaboration with internal CAD and PD methodology teams to optimize design processes. The ideal candidate will contribute to improving silicon yield and enhancing design performance, power, and reliability.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience in digital circuits, timing and power concepts, and logic design
- Proficiency in Perl or TCL programming languages
- Familiarity with industry standard logic synthesis, PnR, STA, and power analysis tools
- Ability to work well in a team and possess excellent communication skills
Responsibilities
- Drive RTL-to-GDS design convergence through logic synthesis and place-and-route tools targeting ambitious PPA goals
- Be responsible for block-level physical design delivery and closure of backend flows
- Collaborate with internal CAD and PD methodology teams on tool features and optimizations
- Work with cross-functional top-level teams on CPU floorplan, timing, power, reliability, and testability
- Collaborate with custom IP teams to define and co-optimize memory macros and library standard cells
