Job description
Apple's Silicon Engineering Group is seeking a CPU Physical Design Engineer to contribute to the design and optimization of CPU block-level physical design. This role involves driving RTL-to-GDS design convergence and ensuring the delivery of block-level physical design while meeting ambitious performance, power, and area goals. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to enhance design methodologies and improve silicon yield. A strong background in digital circuits and physical design techniques is essential for success in this position.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience in logic design and digital circuits
- Experience with Perl or TCL
- Knowledge in deep sub-micron technology and its implications to timing, power, and area
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Drive RTL-to-GDS design convergence through logic synthesis and place-and-route tools targeting ambitious PPA goals
- Be responsible for block-level physical design delivery along with closure of backend flows and electrical requirements
- Work closely with internal CAD and PD methodology teams on industry-standard synthesis and PNR tool features and optimizations
- Collaborate with cross-functional top-level teams on CPU floorplan, timing, power, reliability, and testability aspects
- Work closely with custom IP teams to define and co-optimize memory macros and library standard cells to improve design PPA
