JobsAMS SerDes Robustness Analysis Validation Architect
Job description
The SerDes Robustness Analysis & Validation Architect role focuses on driving the robustness, performance, and margin validation of high-speed SerDes PHYs such as PCIe and USB. This hands-on position requires a deep understanding of SerDes design and validation principles, as well as strong collaboration with design, architecture, and system teams. The architect will develop validation strategies that uncover weaknesses in design assumptions and ensure thorough validation of next-generation SerDes IPs. The role emphasizes stress testing and margin-finding techniques to push designs to their limits.
Requirements
- BS degree and 20+ years of relevant industry experience.
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field with 20+ years of experience in SerDes IP validation.
- Hands-on lab experience with lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers.
- Deep understanding of high-speed serial link protocols and equalization techniques.
- Strong foundation in analog/mixed-signal design principles.
- Skilled in programming and data analysis tools for validation automation.
- Proven ability to isolate issues and root-cause problems at various levels.
- Experience validating multi-lane PHYs with adaptive EQ and challenging compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with production and characterization flows, including stress testing techniques.
- Experience providing post-silicon insights that shaped future design changes.
Responsibilities
- Architect validation strategies that go beyond traditional spec-checking.
- Collaborate closely with design, architecture, and system teams to ensure design for testability.
- Partner with the validation team to optimize test coverage versus execution time.
- Conduct hands-on lab work to validate next-generation SerDes IPs from conception through production.
- Guide test coverage optimization to reduce execution time without sacrificing risk coverage.
- Engage in deep debugging and explore unexpected issues in design.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
