Job description

As a GPU Design Engineer at Apple, you will be part of the Silicon Technologies group, focusing on developing power-efficient, high-performance 3D graphics processor micro-architectures. Your work will contribute to the design and manufacture of next-generation GPUs that enhance Apple products and services. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure that the graphics IP meets performance, timing, and area goals. This role requires a strong background in GPU architectures and a passion for solving complex challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong background in GPU, CPU, or SIMD architectures.
  • Expert knowledge in System Verilog HDL.
  • Experience designing GPU Schedulers, Execution Units, Texture/Pixel Units, or Caches.
  • Detailed understanding of synthesis tools, timing analysis, floor planning, and the PNR flow.
  • Experience in hardware performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, low-power graphics IP that meets performance, timing, and area goals.
  • Explore design trade-offs while applying rigorous design principles.
  • Understand and contribute to pioneering micro-architectural specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with teams in architecture, validation, modeling, and physical design.
  • Drive the bring-up and debugging of complex designs.
  • Communicate effectively and work well in a team to meet aggressive product schedules.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
