Job description

The Packaging Simulation Engineer role focuses on utilizing FEM simulation techniques to analyze stress and deformation in IC packages. This position requires a self-motivated individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a strong background in mechanics and mathematics. The engineer will work on developing automated model-generation interfaces using CAD/FEM software and Generative-AI tools. A deep understanding of packaging materials and electronic packaging processes is essential for ensuring device yield and reliability.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree.
  • Proven capability in mechanics and mathematics.
  • Hands-on experience with major FEM tools such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, or Hypermesh.
  • Proficiency with numerical simulation software tools and expertise in MATLAB and/or Scientific Python.
  • Hands-on experience with Generative-AI and Machine Learning.
  • Deep understanding of packaging materials and their mechanical behaviors.
  • Knowledge of electronic packaging structures and processes, as well as reliability and package qualification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct stress and deformation simulations of IC packages.
  • Provide a comprehensive understanding of chip-package interaction and package-board interaction.
  • Script CAD/FEM software and develop automated model-generation user interfaces.
  • Perform independent research and development work.
  • Present ideas, design concepts, data, and plans confidently at team meetings.
