This role involves driving the architecture and RTL development for CPU machine-learning accelerators. The engineer will work closely with multi-functional teams to ensure that designs meet power, performance, and area goals. A strong emphasis is placed on micro-architecture development, verification, and performance exploration.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 3+ years of industry experience
- Experience with microprocessor architecture
- Knowledge of logic design principles with timing and power implications
- Proficiency in Verilog or VHDL
- Experience with simulators and waveform debugging processes
- Expertise in areas such as out-of-order execution and cache subsystems
- Understanding of low power microarchitecture techniques
- Familiarity with high-performance techniques in CPU microarchitecture
- Experience in C or C++ programming
- Proficiency in an interpretive language such as Perl or Python
Responsibilities
- Develop and specify micro-architecture from high-level exploration to detailed specification
- Own the development, assessment, and refinement of RTL design to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals
- Support the verification team in developing test benches and conducting functional verification
- Explore high-performance strategies and verify that the RTL design meets performance targets
- Collaborate with multi-functional engineering teams to implement and verify physical design aspects
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
