Job description
This role is part of a team of engineers responsible for managing internal and external traffic in a complex environment with strict privacy and security requirements. The focus is on ensuring the reliability, observability, and modernization of Wallets, Payments, and Commerce traffic infrastructure. As demand for services grows, the team aims to deliver high-quality service to Apple's customers. The position requires collaboration and innovation to improve service resiliency and operational quality.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in cloud engineering
- Experience with load balancing technologies such as Nginx and Envoy
- Familiarity with networking, security, logging, and application monitoring
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to coach and mentor other individual contributors
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or 10 years of equivalent work experience
- Experience developing in Go, Python, or similar programming languages
Responsibilities
- Ensure the highest level of uptime and quality of service to Apple's customers through operational quality.
- Design, maintain, and improve global production traffic infrastructure.
- Take ownership of reliability issues using a wide variety of tools.
- Identify areas to improve service resiliency through techniques such as chaos engineering, performance/load testing, and game days.
- Navigate the complexities of the business and service reliability.
- Maintain customer commitments.
