Job description

As a firmware engineer in the Wireless Connectivity Silicon Team at Apple, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative wireless silicon for various Apple products, including the iPhone and Mac. This role involves engaging in the entire silicon production life-cycle, from pre-silicon validation to post-silicon bringup and performance characterization. You will work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, tackling new challenges that require strong problem-solving skills. Your contributions will directly impact products used by millions worldwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 3 plus years of industry experience.
  • Fluency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
  • Background in microcontrollers, SoCs, or embedded processors.
  • Understanding of low-power design and performance optimization.
  • Solid foundation in real-time operating systems concepts.
  • Deep understanding of data structures and system architecture in an embedded environment.
  • Experience using Python for test automation and data analysis.
  • Experience in wireless systems and protocols such as LTE, NR, WiFi, and Bluetooth.
  • Familiarity with key PHY performance metrics.
  • Experience with pre-silicon bringup and validation on FPGA and emulation platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop low-level embedded firmware for wireless silicon.
  • Engage in pre-silicon validation using simulation and emulation.
  • Conduct post-silicon bringup and performance characterization.
  • Integrate systems and debug issues as they arise.
  • Develop SoC test and calibration capabilities for production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
