Job description

Apple is seeking a highly motivated process development engineer to join the Display Technologies Organization, specifically the Panel Process and Optics Engineering team. This role focuses on optical module process development within a fast-paced and technical environment. The engineer will work on designing new process architectures, customizing equipment, and optimizing processes. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and vendors is essential to ensure successful project execution and innovation.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in opto-mechanics, mechatronics, robotics, mechanical engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of direct experience in process and equipment development for electrical or optical products.
  • Experience in process fundamentals including electrical interconnect, laser bonding, flip-chip bonding, and advanced semiconductor packaging.
  • Experience in designing, building, and operating high-precision bonding or assembly equipment.
  • Experience in equipment automation, cycle time optimization, and in-process quality control.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, control systems, and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead new equipment and process development for electrical and optical modules.
  • Convert incubation technologies and proof-of-concept equipment into scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and vendors to define and qualify equipment.
  • Plan and execute empirical trials, theoretical analysis, and data visualization.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and executives.
  • Monitor industrial equipment and process manufacturing technology trends.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
