This position is part of the Silicon Engineering Group, which focuses on designing high-performance, low power microprocessors for various Apple products. The engineer will engage in micro-architecture development, RTL design, and verification processes. The role requires collaboration with multi-functional engineering teams to ensure the successful delivery of designs that meet performance and power goals.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with microprocessor architecture
- Experience with logic design principles with timing and power implications
- Experience in Verilog or VHDL
- Experience with simulators and waveform debugging processes
- Expertise in out-of-order execution, instruction scheduling, integer and floating point execution, load/store execution, cache and memory subsystems
- Understanding of low power microarchitecture techniques
- Understanding of high-performance techniques and trade-offs in CPU microarchitecture
- Experience in C or C++ programming
- Experience using an interpretive language such as Perl or Python
Responsibilities
- Develop and specify micro-architecture from high-level exploration to detailed specification
- Own the development, assessment, and refinement of RTL design to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals
- Support the verification team in developing test benches, formal methods, and simulations for functional verification
- Explore high-performance strategies and collaborate with the performance verification team to ensure RTL design meets performance targets
- Work with multi-functional engineering teams to implement and verify physical design aspects including timing, area, reliability, testability, and power
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
