Job description

Apple's Responsible AI and Safety team is seeking a technical lead with expertise in Applied Research, particularly in machine learning and foundation models. This role emphasizes responsibility, fairness, and safety in the development of groundbreaking products. Requirements

  • 4+ years of research or product deployment experience in responsible AI with publications in top ML venues.
  • PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related fields, or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong research fundamentals and machine learning principles related to LLMs and foundation models.
  • Proficient programming skills in Python and deep learning toolkits such as JAX, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
  • Experience with LLM training and safety alignment.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related fields, or equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Define and deliver responsible machine learning technologies.
  • Develop methods and frameworks to train and evaluate foundation models with a focus on responsibility and safety.
  • Research and advance safety alignment and model robustness methods for foundation models.
  • Research and develop mitigations and safeguards for the safe deployment of LLMs in Apple products.
  • Contribute to the architecture and high-level structure of Apple's AI-powered platform and features.
  • Collaborate with product and partner teams to drive requirement definition and ensure technical quality of deliverables.
