Job description
The CPU Cache Microarchitect/RTL Engineer will be part of Apple's Silicon Engineering Group, focusing on the design and development of high-performance, low power microprocessors. This role involves driving the architecture and RTL development for multi-processor systems. The engineer will collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation and verification of designs. A strong emphasis will be placed on performance exploration and verification to meet targeted goals.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with microprocessor architecture
- Experience with logic design principles with timing and power implications
- Experience in Verilog or VHDL
- Experience with simulators and waveform debugging processes
- Expertise in coherence protocols and interconnects, high performance design techniques, and memory subsystem management
- Understanding of low power microarchitecture techniques
- Understanding of high-performance techniques and trade-offs in CPU microarchitecture
- Experience in C or C++ programming
- Experience using an interpretive language such as Perl or Python
Responsibilities
- Develop and specify micro-architecture from high-level exploration to detailed specifications
- Own the development, assessment, and refinement of RTL design targeting power, performance, area, and timing goals
- Support the verification team in test bench development, formal methods, and simulation/emulation for functional verification
- Explore high-performance strategies and work with the performance verification team to ensure RTL design meets performance targets
- Collaborate with multi-functional engineering teams to implement and verify physical design aspects such as timing, area, reliability, testability, and power
