The role is for a cellular validation engineer in the Wireless Software group, focusing on ensuring the quality of Apple's wireless products such as iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watch. The team is responsible for qualifying wireless features and software, emphasizing functionality and stability. The engineer will collaborate across departments to enhance customer experiences with Apple products. This position involves both manual and automated testing to drive improvements in wireless connectivity technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
- 7 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation.
- Minimum 7 years of experience with 5G, LTE, UMTS, CDMA, or GSM.
- Experience with MTBF, stability testing, automation tools, test suites, or execution.
- Knowledge in testing cellular protocols.
- Experience in operating simulators.
- Familiarity with 3GPP and ETSI standards.
- Hands-on experience with testing cellular technologies such as 5G NR FR1 and mmW, LTE, IMS.
- Deep understanding of cellular protocol stack, SQA methodologies & practices.
- Experience in developing test strategies, test plans, and executing them with automation or manual testing.
- Automation experience and knowledge of modern scripting or compiled languages such as Python, Obj-C, or Swift.
- Outstanding communication skills to collaborate with multi-functional teams.
- An analytical, methodical, and creative problem solver committed to driving quality forward.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the quality of Apple's wireless products by focusing on consistent functionality and stability.
- Understand new and existing feature implementations to craft informed and robust testing charters.
- Author test scenarios, scripts, and plans, and execute functional and stability testing.
- Write and review automation test scripts, identifying and reporting defects with root cause analysis.
- Collaborate with platform architecture, standardization, firmware/protocol development, system test, and carrier engineering teams to drive improvement proposals and baseband optimizations.
