JobsCPU Implementation Engineer
Job description
Apple's Silicon Engineering Group is seeking dedicated CPU Implementation Engineers to contribute to the design and implementation of CPU block-level architecture. The role involves collaborating with micro-architects to define micro-architecture and optimize design for power, performance, and area. Engineers will work closely with internal teams on synthesis and place-and-route tools to achieve ambitious design goals. This position requires strong teamwork and communication skills to drive successful project outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
- Experience in TCL or Perl is necessary.
- Knowledge of logic design and digital circuits is essential.
- Familiarity with high performance CPU microprocessor architecture is required.
- Experience with industry standard logic synthesis, PnR, STA, and power analysis tools is needed.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with micro-architects to define micro-architecture and assess design feasibility.
- Drive RTL-to-GDS design convergence through optimizations targeting power, performance, and area.
- Ensure block-level design delivery and closure of backend flows and electrical requirements.
- Work with CAD and PD methodology teams on tool features and optimizations for CPU design.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams on CPU floorplan, timing, power, reliability, and testability.
- Collaborate with custom IP teams to define and optimize memory macros and library standard cells.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
