Job description

The Engineering Manager for BigQuery Engine at Google is responsible for leading a team of engineers focused on optimizing and enhancing the performance of BigQuery's execution engine. This role involves managing technical projects, contributing to product strategy, and fostering a collaborative team culture. The team operates at the intersection of advanced query optimization and large-scale distributed systems, aiming to redefine performance boundaries. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role overseeing projects.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
  • 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the design and execution of high-performance components within BigQuery’s execution engine.
  • Improve the price-performance and scale of the engine, ensuring solutions are efficient to operate and reliable.
  • Partner with infrastructure and product teams to shape the future of the analytics experience.
