JobsSoC Power Modeling Engineer
Job description
The role involves working within Apple's Silicon Engineering group to model power dissipation and delivery for various IPs, including AI/ML components. The engineer will collaborate with multiple teams to optimize power efficiency in state-of-the-art ASICs. This position offers the chance to contribute to the design of upcoming generations of Apple SOCs, ensuring they meet peak current requirements and voltage-frequency operating points. The ideal candidate will engage in HW/model correlation efforts and participate in the development of innovative solutions for mobile SoC design.
Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in power modeling.
- Programming skills and an understanding of low-power digital design and power fundamentals.
- Understanding of SOC power modeling and current demand.
- Understanding of electrical properties of on-die PDN, power gating, package, and system power delivery.
- Skills in scripting and data analysis, along with experience with EDA tools.
- Understanding of VLSI design flow and CMOS technology.
- Extensive background in electrical engineering.
- Ability to understand and model thermal control loops and throttling mechanisms.
- Familiarity with physical design tools for power optimization.
- Great teammate with excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Model power dissipation and power delivery for various IPs.
- Establish voltages for DVFM states of IPs, including Neural Engines, CPUs, and AI/ML accelerators.
- Model power dissipation for customer use-cases.
- Interact with the Technology team, Silicon Validation, and Product Engineering teams to establish voltage-frequency design points pre- and post-silicon.
- Work with the power lab and test teams to correlate models to HW data.
