·FY 2025Job description
The Intelligence System Experience (ISE) team at Apple is seeking engineers who are passionate about Generative AI and experienced in building infrastructure for training and deploying large-scale generative models. This role involves working closely with a cross-functional team to benchmark and prototype algorithmic choices that align with training and deployment infrastructure. Candidates should have deep expertise in machine learning infrastructure and be technically hands-on. The team focuses on multimodal machine learning and aims to create intelligent experiences for users.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on machine learning.
- Experience in training and adapting large language models and diffusion models.
- Advanced fluency in PyTorch.
- Excellent programming skills and experience contributing to large software projects.
- Experience with distributed training of large models.
- Strong machine learning fundamentals.
- Experience working with large cross-functional and diverse teams.
Responsibilities
- Optimize and profile training targeting vision and language pre-training.
- Research training recipes for effective scheduling of multimodal training workloads.
- Conduct experimentation and tooling for post-training ablations including reward modeling, distillation, and prompt optimization.
- Coordinate with post-training algorithm owners to analyze quality and performance tradeoffs of downstream capabilities.
- Perform ablations involving optimization-aware fine-tuning.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
