Job description
This role involves supporting the power activity of Apple's GPU development team within the Silicon Technologies group. The engineer will focus on developing energy models for power estimation and analyzing power consumption to identify reduction opportunities. Collaboration with various teams is essential to drive power reduction techniques across the entire stack. The position requires a blend of technical expertise and creativity to enhance the architecture of next-generation GPUs.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Computer architecture knowledge.
- Experience investigating and evaluating PPA tradeoffs.
- Knowledge of low power ASIC design.
- Proficient Python programmer or similar scripting languages.
- Experience with Tableau and/or Splunk is a plus but not required.
- Excellent communication skills, self-motivated and well organized.
Responsibilities
- Develop micro-architectural level energy models for early power estimation and analysis.
- Analyze and provide insight into power consumption throughout the GPU.
- Drive power reduction techniques across the entire stack by collaborating with various engineering teams.
- Develop tools for measurement, visualization, and analysis of GPU energy.
- Conduct directed studies to prototype solutions for improving GPU architecture and micro-architecture.
