Job description
This role is part of Apple's Silicon Technologies group, focusing on the design and manufacturing of high-performance, power-efficient GPUs. The position requires a blend of strategic engineering and hands-on experience in physical design and large chip integration. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing complete chip designs from RTL to tapeout, ensuring that Apple products can handle complex tasks efficiently. Collaboration with various teams and driving methodologies to streamline physical design work are key aspects of this role.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with floorplanning partitions, conducting route and placement flow experiments, and reviewing static timing.
- Ability in all aspects of ASIC implementation including Synthesis, DFT insertion, Floorplanning, and Place and Route.
- Experience with multi-voltage, power gated, and power retention designs.
- Practical knowledge of hierarchical design approaches and timing convergence.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the front-end team to understand chip architecture and drive physical aspects early in the design cycle.
- Drive outstanding physical design construction and optimization recipes for performance, power, and area.
- Collaborate to establish methodologies and best practices to streamline physical design work.
- Lead and resolve design and flow issues related to physical design, identifying potential solutions.
- Drive the work among place and route engineers, setting goals and planning short and long-term work.
