Job description

As an ASIC STA Engineer at Apple, you will be responsible for all aspects of SoC design related to timing. This role involves timing sign-off, STA and sign-off flow development, and managing timing constraints for IP and block levels. You will work closely with RTL designers, CAD, and the Physical design team to ensure timing closure and sign-off quality. The position requires innovation in timing constraints and flow to address potential issues in timing analysis.

Requirements

  • BS degree in a technical discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in ASIC design timing closure flow and methodology
  • At least 2+ years of experience in writing ASIC timing constraints and timing closure
  • Expertise in STA tools such as Primetime
  • Knowledge of timing corners/modes, process variations, and signal integrity issues
  • Hands-on experience in timing/SDC constraints generation and management
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Tcl and Perl
  • Familiarity with synthesis, DFT, and backend related methodology and tools
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform timing sign-off and develop STA and sign-off flows
  • Own IP and block level timing constraints for both regular and custom timing requirements
  • Collaborate with RTL designers to understand design intent and clock structure
  • Work with CAD to develop and understand flow
  • Engage with the Physical design team to close and sign-off timing
  • Innovate timing constraints and flow to facilitate timing closure
  • Verify timing constraints and address potential pessimism in timing analysis

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
