Job description

As a member of the CAD team within Apple's Silicon Technologies group, you will develop and enhance sophisticated software systems for regression-testing silicon designs. Your work will help identify defects in chip designs, ensuring the production of world-class silicon. You will collaborate closely with EDA vendors and the DV team to incorporate new capabilities and resolve issues. This role requires a strong background in programming and problem-solving to support Apple's chip design engineering efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS degree with 3 years of relevant experience
  • Python programming background
  • Experience debugging vendor tool problems
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing an existing system for regressing RTL
  • Experience with TCL or Perl is a plus
  • Experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • MSEE/CE/CS preferred
  • Knowledge in Verilog and SystemVerilog; familiarity with VHDL is a plus
  • Experience with Synopsys VCS, XCelium, or Modelsim
  • Good communication skills are required and prior customer support experience is a plus
  • Experience writing or maintaining a script or Makefile that builds a simulation model from RTL is a plus
  • Familiarity with Verdi and/or Indago is considered a plus
  • Knowledge of C and C++ is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance software systems for regression-testing silicon designs
  • Identify and report defects in chip designs through software simulation
  • Collaborate with EDA vendors to incorporate new capabilities and resolve problems
  • Guide engineers in diagnosing complex problems and implementing solutions
  • Interact with DV teams to help solve their problems
  • Implement new functionality to address emerging issues or optimize existing methods
