Job description

The role involves working as an engineer on HealthKit, which is central to health and fitness applications on Apple platforms. The team focuses on enhancing the functionality of the Health app while ensuring data privacy and performance. Engineers will collaborate with various teams across Apple, including hardware and software, as well as third-party developers. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to significant health-related technology advancements.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals
  • 2 years of experience working in Objective-C, Swift, C++ or similar high level programming languages
  • Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures
  • Experience in object-oriented architecture and design
  • Understanding of systems-level concepts like multi-threading and interprocess communication
  • Experience with debugging tools and performance tuning
  • Knowledge of iOS programming and one or more Apple technologies such as Grand Central Dispatch, CloudKit, or XPC Activity/Services
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to collaborate in a diversity of backgrounds and experiences
  • Willingness to learn and improve, and also mentor and support other team members
  • Highly organized, maintaining patience and composure to effectively operate within ambiguity
  • Experience with distributed systems design and development
  • Experience with SQL and database technologies
  • Experience delivering libraries, frameworks or APIs

Responsibilities

  • Deliver new health and fitness features for the Health app and HealthKit framework
  • Design solutions for distributed health data storage and performance
  • Integrate with operating systems and design APIs for functionality delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware teams and domain experts
  • Support the developer ecosystem by providing tools and resources for third-party developers
