The Senior Embedded Software Engineer for Pixel Core USB at Google will focus on developing the next generation of USB connectivity and charging for Pixel devices. This role involves working on the software stack that ensures seamless user experiences with USB-C ports in Pixel phones and tablets. The engineer will collaborate across various teams and stages of development, from hardware to user experience. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in full stack Android system software development.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, such as C.
• 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
• 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

• Develop Linux kernel drivers from scratch to enable new USB controllers and Type-C controllers used in Pixel products.
• Identify and work across Product Areas to develop meaningful high-impact user-facing USB features.
• Identify systemic issues for USB and merge solutions in Linux upstream for easier maintenance.
• Investigate scalable USB software architectures and influence SoC architecture as needed.
• Abstract hardware interfaces to Android userspace and define the necessary system software layers.
