Job description

The role is for an innovative engineer to join Apple's Platform Architecture GPU Modeling Team, focusing on the development of next-generation GPU architectures for iPhone, iPad, and Mac products. This position involves close collaboration with various disciplines to ensure high-performance products reach millions of customers quickly. The engineer will create and maintain a high-performance C++ model of GPUs, implementing modern hardware features and validating model accuracy. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment alongside experienced professionals in GPU technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience modeling GPUs, CPUs, or similar.
  • Experience writing and debugging C++ code.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Ruby.
  • MS or PhD degree in a related field.
  • Understanding of GPU/CPU architectures.
  • Experience debugging performance issues and correlating multiple models.
  • Understanding of data analysis tools such as Tableau, pandas, Excel, and matplotlib.
  • Experience working with cutting-edge machine learning and/or graphics applications, games, or benchmarks.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a high-performance C++ model of next-generation GPUs.
  • Code and debug a performance and functional model of the GPU.
  • Implement modern hardware features such as machine learning for AI, ray tracing, and mesh shading.
  • Ensure model accuracy and feature validation by correlating against other models and RTL.
  • Develop and utilize diverse tools for analyzing data generated by the models.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, and software partners on defining and tuning GPU architectures.
  • Assess the feasibility of new hardware and software features.
  • Run performance experiments and analyze results.
  • Propose architectural changes based on analysis.
