Job description

In this role, you will be part of the Silicon Technologies group, focusing on designing and manufacturing high-performance, power-efficient processors and system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. You will analyze silicon performance data to enhance static timing analysis tools and methodologies, driving improvements in Apple products. The position requires collaboration with design teams and engineering to optimize performance and battery life across various devices. Your work will directly impact the technology that powers Apple’s devices, enabling innovative user experiences.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a BS degree and 20 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Coding experience in one or more of C, Perl, Python, or Tcl.
  • Experience working in static timing analysis, DFT, physical design, failure analysis, or CAD.
  • Experience with Static Timing Analysis tools such as Primetime, Tempus, or equivalent.
  • Solid coding and debugging skills in C, Perl, Python, or Tcl with an understanding of design challenges in advanced technology nodes.
  • Fundamentals of statistics, hypothesis testing, data mining, Machine Learning, and Design of Experiments.
  • Prior exposure to DFT, Tetramax, Tessent, silicon debug, or semiconductor processing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze silicon performance data and incorporate findings into static timing analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Work with design teams, DFT, CAD, and product engineering to design experiments and analyze results.
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies in static timing analysis.
  • Perform data mining and analysis of silicon data to establish correlation metrics for design closure activities.
  • Develop and deploy design closure margins and methodologies to optimize power and performance tradeoffs.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
