This position plays a crucial role in influencing the design of CPUs, GPUs, SoCs, and other components in Apple's Custom Silicon group. The team focuses on integrating groundbreaking techniques and collaborating across various fields to deliver high-performance products to customers. Candidates will leverage their extensive experience to optimize designs for power, timing, and area while ensuring quick product delivery.
Requirements
- BS degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience
- Experience within a SoC design cycle, developing circuits and SRAM/Register File for low power, low voltage, and high performance
- Knowledge of Cache design/architecture and memory hierarchy
- Working knowledge of RTL modeling
- Solid understanding of industry-standard design tools
- Deep understanding of nanometer device physics and leakage mechanisms
- Ability to devise experiments and analyze data for silicon debug
- Familiarity with Machine Learning algorithms and scripting is a plus
Responsibilities
- Design and implement custom digital circuits for SRAM design
- Work with a logic/architecture team to formulate design specifications
- Define architecture and topologies optimizing for power, timing, area, and yield
- Conduct schematic capture, simulations, analysis, and margin verifications
- Perform functional equivalency and DFT modeling
- Collaborate with the layout team to create optimal GDS
- Verify that extracted GDS meets design specifications
- Conduct backend verification, including IR and EM analysis
- Write RTL, validate use cases, and verify against design schematics
- Support post-silicon efforts to enable productization
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
