Job description
As a CPU Physical Design and Integration Engineer at Apple, you will play a crucial role in the processor design effort, collaborating across various domains to ensure the successful delivery of high-performance, low-power processors. This position involves participating in the physical design, integration, and verification processes, making a significant impact on product functionality for millions of customers. You will work closely with implementation and CAD teams throughout the chip design cycle, driving signoff closure for tapeout. Your contributions will help establish methodologies and improve efficiencies in chip integration.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 3+ years of industry experience
- Experience with place and route and physical verification
- Proficiency in a scripting language such as Perl or Tcl
- Knowledge of industry standard place and route tools and practices in physical design
- Experience in physical construction, integration, PDV, DRC/LVS verification
- Working knowledge of Python
- Solid understanding of CMOS circuit design
- Working knowledge of clock design and physical implementation of custom clocks
Responsibilities
- Perform full chip floorplan, area optimizations, block partitioning, and pin placements
- Own chip level place and route (PnR), final CPU layout database construction, and verification (PDV)
- Evaluate route ability, power grid, and technology bring up
- Drive custom layout integration and IPs for CPU
- Collaborate with the SOC team to meet IP technical and delivery requirements
- Participate in establishing CAD and physical design methodologies
- Engage in flow development for chip integration and analysis
- Script to automate tasks and improve debug efficiency
