Job description

As a Full Chip Integration Engineer at Apple, you will play a pivotal role in the processor design effort, collaborating with various disciplines to ensure the successful delivery of high-performance, low-power processors. Your work will involve physical design, integration, and verification, impacting millions of customers. You will be responsible for optimizing chip layouts and ensuring compliance with technical specifications. This role requires a blend of technical expertise and teamwork to drive innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with scripting in Perl or TCL.
  • Knowledge of industrial standards and practices in Physical Design.
  • Experience in developing and implementing Power Grid and Clock specifications.
  • Solid knowledge of Low Power Design and Physical Construction.
  • Understanding of verification tools such as Conformal LP, LEC, RedHawk, and Calibre.
  • Solid understanding of CMOS circuit design.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in full chip floorplan, area optimizations, block partitioning, and pin placements.
  • Own chip level place and route (PnR) and final CPU layout database construction and verification.
  • Develop and validate Power Grid, including routability analysis.
  • Drive custom layout integration and perform electrical verification/analysis.
  • Work with implementation/CAD teams to achieve signoff closure for tapeout.
  • Collaborate with the SOC team to meet IP technical and delivery requirements.
  • Establish CAD and physical design methodologies for chip integration.
  • Automate tasks and improve debug efficiency through scripting.
