Job description

As an RFIC Layout Designer, you will be a vital member of an RFIC team focused on advancing RF analog circuit integration for wireless transceivers. You will collaborate with skilled engineers to tackle layout challenges and improve RF methodologies. Your work will involve detailed custom block layout in advanced CMOS technology nodes, impacting the development of next-generation wireless products. This role requires a passion for innovation and a commitment to enhancing user experiences worldwide.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience in custom RF/analog layout for radio transceivers.
  • Extensive knowledge of deep sub-micron CMOS technologies, including 16nm and 7nm.
  • High-level proficiency in interpreting Calibre DRC, ERC, and LVS in FinFET technology.
  • Knowledge of layout techniques for device matching, minimizing parasitics, RF shielding, and high-frequency routing.
  • Familiarity with Cadence layout tools.
  • Solid understanding of RC delay, electromigration, IR drop, ESD, latch-up, and coupling.
  • Understanding of guard rings, deep N-wells, PN junctions, and advanced process effects such as LOD, WPE, and DFM.
  • Prior experience crafting custom layouts at the chip, block, and device levels for RF high-frequency circuits.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Layout and verify custom RF and analog IP in advanced CMOS technology nodes.
  • Perform detailed custom block layout including floorplanning, placement, routing, and verification for high-frequency RF circuits.
  • Verify and refine layouts through simulation to meet design requirements.
  • Diagnose sophisticated verification and PDK issues using Cadence and Calibre.
  • Collaborate with the RFIC design team to tackle daily layout challenges.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
