Job description
As a member of the CPU implementation methodology team at Apple, you will play a crucial role in driving CPU design initiatives and flow development. This position is ideal for an engineer with experience in Synthesis and PNR, focusing on improving design methodologies and optimization opportunities. You will collaborate with CPU designers, CAD teams, and EDA tool vendors to enhance performance, power, and area (PPA). Your contributions will directly impact the development of high-performance and low-power CPU designs.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with implementing VLSI digital designs using SAPR tools with multi-GHz performance goals
- Experience with logic optimization trade-offs between area, timing, and power
- Experience implementing high-performance and low-power CPU designs
- Scripting skills to interface with tools and analyze data
- Experience with SAPR/PNR design flow infrastructure/scripts
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python and TCL
- Understanding of challenges related to the latest deep sub-micron technology
Responsibilities
- Generate and validate new ideas, creating flows and methodologies in collaboration with CPU designers and CAD teams
- Conduct detailed analysis across partitions to identify optimization opportunities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with STA, library, tech, and post-silicon teams to enhance optimization during implementation
- Contribute to aspects of synthesis and physical design implementation methodologies
- Write algorithms and code to extract PPA during implementation
- Utilize strong interpersonal skills to work effectively in a dynamic team environment
- Employ excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
