JobsMixed-Signal Behavioral Modeling Engineer
Job description
The Mixed-Signal Behavioral Modeling Engineer at Apple will work within the mixed-signal design team to model complex custom circuits for system-level verification. This role involves a high degree of collaboration across multiple teams and focuses on crafting functional models of mixed-signal circuits in SystemVerilog. The engineer will analyze data from circuit teams and run simulations to ensure model accuracy. This position offers the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art mixed-signal systems used in Apple's leading SoCs.
Requirements
- BS degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent knowledge of digital logic gates, clocking, and state elements.
- Excellent knowledge of writing behavioral code in SystemVerilog.
- Solid understanding of logic and behavioral simulations.
- Ability to read custom circuit schematics and understand functionality.
- Good familiarity with circuit elements and functionality of mixed-signal blocks such as PLLs, DLLs, SERDES, sensors, and data converters.
- Good understanding of SPICE circuit simulations and SystemVerilog/SPICE co-simulations.
- Good understanding of timing synchronous digital logic.
- Ability to write scripts in PERL or Python to automate repetitive tasks.
- Familiarity with the basics of digital signal processing and numerical analysis.
- Familiarity with the basics of probability and statistics.
Responsibilities
- Model complex custom circuits for verifying system-level functionality and performance.
- Write functional models of custom mixed-signal circuits in SystemVerilog with appropriate detail.
- Collaborate with circuit design teams to understand custom circuit details.
- Work with DV teams to create hooks for effective verification.
- Analyze data from the circuit team using Python or MATLAB for model fitting.
- Profile and analyze the performance of the resulting models.
- Run simulations and formal equivalence tools to ensure model accuracy.
- Enhance modeling methodology and improve functional coverage.
- Optimize modeling flows and enable new tools to identify custom circuit issues.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
