The Xcode Intelligence Foundations team is focused on developing tools and systems that enhance software development through machine learning. This team aims to provide developers with reliable and well-designed tools that improve software quality and streamline the development process. Engineers will work collaboratively with peers and industry partners to create features and address challenges in software development. Candidates should be prepared to engage with the complexities of generative AI and prioritize user experience.

Requirements

  • A track record of building thoughtful, polished user experiences
  • A demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively
  • Experience with generative AI concepts and technologies
  • Familiarity with Swift and Apple's platforms and SDKs
  • Experience building developer tools or LLM-assisted experiences
  • Strong depth of understanding in performance optimization, API and standards design, compilers, information retrieval structures, language tooling, or interfaces between probabilistic inference and deterministic software systems

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain frameworks and systems that integrate Xcode with intelligent tools for developers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with peers at Apple and industry partners to develop features
  • Troubleshoot issues and help prototype the next generation of software development tools
  • Participate in all aspects of software development from design and planning to evaluation and maintenance
  • Address challenges related to generative AI and its ethical implications

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
