Job description

The CPU Processor Power Management Verification Engineer role at Apple involves collaborating with various teams to ensure the functionality correctness of Power Management and Clock Control logic. This position is critical in the chip design effort, impacting the delivery of functional products to millions of customers. The engineer will work on developing and executing test plans, as well as analyzing coverage to ensure comprehensive testing. This role requires strong technical skills and the ability to communicate complex design issues effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a Master's degree preferred.
  • Academic experience in computer architecture is necessary.
  • Academic experience in digital design using Verilog is required.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting in Python, Perl, or TCL is essential.
  • Knowledge of digital logic, micro-processor architecture, and power management architecture is required.
  • Experience or academic knowledge in design verification methodology is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with architecture and RTL designers to verify the functionality correctness of the Power Management and Clock Control logic.
  • Develop and execute test plans and schedules for the power management and clock control logic.
  • Develop tests in Assembly, Scripts, System Verilog, or vectors according to test plans for simulation and emulation environments.
  • Root cause failures and propose potential solutions to the design team.
  • Collaborate with the silicon bringup team to develop tests that work in emulation and FPGA environments.
  • Develop coverage monitors and analyze coverage to ensure all test cases in the test plans are covered.
  • Develop checkers or Verilog/System Verilog-based transactors to verify the design.
  • Write assertions and apply formal verification to the design.
