JobsSerDes Micro Architect
Job description
The Analog Mixed-Signal (AMS) Team is looking for a self-motivated SERDES Micro Architect to define next-generation IPs for Apple silicon. This role focuses on creating SERDES IPs that enhance power and performance across various Apple devices. The architect will engage in reviewing firmware code and circuits to ensure design performance. Collaboration with silicon evaluation and design verification teams is essential to establish expected behaviors.
Requirements
- BS degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience leading the definition of high-speed SERDES receiver, transmitter, and clocking blocks.
- Deep understanding of adaptation and optimization algorithms.
- Deep understanding of communications and information theory.
- Proficiency in equalizers, timing recovery, and system identification.
- Proficiency in DSP concepts and applications.
- Familiarity with mixed-signal modeling in Python/MATLAB/C/C++.
- Experience in system design and performance tradeoff.
- Familiarity with simulation tools for analog, digital, and/or mixed-signal circuits.
- Familiarity with Machine Learning concepts.
- Experience in firmware or embedded software development is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Define the Micro Architecture of analog mixed-signal IPs with an emphasis on SERDES design.
- Review firmware code, analog and digital circuits to verify design performance requirements.
- Work with silicon evaluation and design verification teams to define expected behavior.
- Lead the debug effort in system bring up and factory testing.
- Collaborate with signal integrity engineers to determine system requirements.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
