Job description

As an Embedded Firmware Engineer at Apple, you will be integral to the embedded 5G/4G/multimode cellular firmware development within a silicon design group. This role focuses on designing and implementing algorithms that meet strict real-time deadlines while optimizing for memory and cycles. You will work in a dynamic environment that encourages open debate and adaptability to evolving requirements. Your expertise in AI/ML will be leveraged to enhance productivity and system architectures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with design and implementation of bare metal control firmware optimized for cycles and memory.
  • Deep understanding of the differences between software platform design and highly constrained firmware environments.
  • Experience leading feature delivery for a complete firmware/software life cycle.
  • Strong foundation in Machine Learning and Deep Learning, including experience with ML algorithms and architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement algorithms using minimal memory and cycles with rigid real-time deadlines.
  • Use AI/ML as a tool for improved productivity in system architectures.
  • Architect system-level features and lead feature delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful firmware development.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge of AI/ML algorithms to practical implementations.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
