Job description
As a member of the CPU implementation methodology team at Apple, you will play a crucial role in driving CPU design initiatives and flow development. This position is ideal for an engineer with Synthesis and PNR experience who is eager to influence improvements within the design team. You will collaborate with CPU Designers, CAD teams, and EDA tool vendors to enhance performance, power, and area (PPA). Your work will involve detailed analysis and cross-functional collaboration to optimize implementation methodologies.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with implementing VLSI digital designs using SAPR tools with multi-GHz performance goals
- Experience with logic optimization trade-offs between area, timing, and power
- Experience implementing high-performance and low-power CPU designs
- Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python and TCL
- Strong understanding and experience using industry standard synthesis, PnR, and STA tools
Responsibilities
- Generate and validate new ideas and create flows and methodologies by collaborating with CPU Designers, CAD teams, and EDA tool vendors
- Conduct detailed analysis across partitions to identify optimization opportunities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with STA, library, tech, and post-silicon teams to enhance optimization during implementation
- Contribute to aspects of Synthesis and Physical Design Implementation methodologies
- Write algorithms and code to extract PPA during implementation
- Utilize scripting skills to interface with tools and analyze data
