The Applied Machine Learning Research Scientist will join the Accessibility efforts on the Human-Centered Machine Intelligence (HCMI) team at Apple. This role focuses on addressing significant technical and human-centered research challenges related to accessibility. The team collaborates with various partner teams across Apple to develop and ship products that enhance the usability of technology for people of all abilities. The position involves conducting research that leads to innovative solutions in machine learning and accessibility.

• PhD in Machine Learning, Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experienced researcher in areas of machine learning, including computer vision or multi-modal modeling.
• Publication and research record commensurate with seniority.
• Proven history of turning research contributions into tools, guidelines, or products either commercially or as open source.
• Experience designing machine learning models for sign language.
• Experience conducting research in Accessibility, such as sign language, atypical speech, or visual accessibility.
• Experience doing data collection or data curation, including developing data or annotation protocols.
• Experience with human-centered evaluation methods, such as developing user study protocols or running studies.
• Experience developing and shipping products that use machine learning.
• Strong writing and presentation skills.
