Job description

This role is focused on developing architectural models for advanced graphics processing units (GPUs) within Apple's Silicon Technologies group. The team is responsible for pre-silicon functional and performance modeling to ensure high-performance and power-efficient designs. Engineers will work collaboratively to drive best practices in hardware and software solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of GPU architectures and the ability to translate specifications into executable models.

Requirements

  • Minimum of BS degree with 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in C++ programming
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl
  • Knowledge of GPU, CPU, or SIMD architectures
  • Background in GPU graphics pipeline and CPU or GPU memory hierarchies
  • Understanding of GP-GPU compute
  • Experience with HDLs, Verilog, System Verilog, or VHDL

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development, validation, and verification of advanced GPU designs and architectures
  • Develop bit-accurate architectural models for hardware/software co-validation
  • Create timing-accurate architectural and micro-architectural models for performance validation
  • Triage regression failures and debug issues to identify root causes
  • Promote coding and modeling best practices and enhance modeling infrastructure
  • Lead multi-functional teams to implement best practice hardware and software solutions
  • Present results and recommendations while collaborating across functional teams

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
