Job description

This role at Apple is focused on defining and architecting methodologies for electromigration, static error band, and thermal analysis within the CAD Group. The team is dedicated to building innovative designs and improving practices to enhance product quality. The position requires hands-on experience in various analysis techniques and tools, as well as the ability to mentor junior engineers. The successful candidate will drive technical engagement with vendors and lead the development of customized solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of BS degree and 10 years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with EM, SEB, FIT, SHE, and thermal methodologies and calculations
  • Proficiency in at least one of Tcl, Python, or Perl scripting languages
  • Hands-on knowledge of industry-leading EMIR tools such as Voltus and RedHawk-SC
  • Familiarity with advanced packaging technologies and their unique EM challenges

Responsibilities

  • Define and architect comprehensive EM/SEB/thermal methodologies and drive deployment across multiple advanced node designs
  • Lead development of customized EM/SEB/thermal solutions that scale with accuracy and capacity challenges
  • Own and drive the entire EM/SEB/thermal flow from concept through sign-off, including automation and quality metrics
  • Serve as the technical authority and primary point of contact for various teams on EM/FIT requirements and trade-offs
  • Independently develop, validate, and maintain EM/thermal rule decks and verification methodologies across multiple projects
  • Drive technical engagement with EDA vendors and foundries for tool qualification and model development
  • Establish and lead correlation studies between EM analysis tools and silicon failure analysis data
  • Mentor entry-level engineers on EM/SEB/thermal analysis techniques and best practices
